Apparition terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Vagrant Digital LLC ("we") for using Apparition: Ghost Compendium. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data.
Who can use Apparition
You must be 13 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your Apple or Google sign-in secure.
Community rules
The Compendium is a place to share what you’ve been through with people who take it seriously. To keep it that way:
- Share your own experiences. Post what you saw, heard or felt. Don’t copy other people’s stories, or pass off fiction as something that happened to you.
- Be kind, even if you don’t believe it. Question the story, not the person. No bullying, harassment, mockery or threats.
- No hate. Nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Keep it fit for teens. No sexual content, no graphic gore, and nothing that encourages violence, self-harm or anything illegal.
- Protect people’s privacy. Name a city or a public place, never a home address. Don’t share a private person’s full name, address, phone number or other personal details.
- No spam or scams. No ads, selling, links to paid readings, or fake accounts.
- Pictures are imagined, not proof. Every picture is AI art made from your words. Don’t claim one is a real photograph or evidence.
Zero tolerance. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Every post and comment is checked before it appears. Anyone can report a post, comment or profile, and block a person. 3 reports hide an item until we review it. We act on reports within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules, and we ban repeat or serious offenders.
You accept these rules in the app before your first post or comment. If a post is refused by the check, you can change it and try again. If we remove your content or ban your account and you think we got it wrong, email us. (Rules version 1.)
Your content
- It stays yours. You own the encounters, comments and other things you write.
- Permission to show it. When you post or comment, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and distribute it, and its pictures, inside Apparition and on links people share from it, so we can run the Compendium. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared or saved.
- Your responsibility. Only post what you have the right to post, and what follows the community rules. You can delete your posts and comments at any time.
- Your Journal is private. We don't publish anything you haven't posted.
AI pictures
Pictures are made by an AI model from the words you write. They are imagined, not photographs, and never evidence of anything. Every picture carries an "AI picture" mark; don't remove it or present a picture as real when you share it. The model can make mistakes or refuse a request. You may use your pictures for personal, non-commercial purposes. Don't use pictures to depict a real, private person.
Apparition Pro and the Day Pass
Writing, reading and the community are free. Pictures are counted: 3 a month on the free plan.
- Apparition Pro gives 25 pictures a month. It is an auto-renewing subscription: $4.99 a month, or $39.99 a year with a 7-day free trial.
- Renewal. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your Apparition account does not cancel it. When you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
- Day Pass. A one-time $1.99 purchase that gives 5 pictures to use within 24 hours. It doesn't renew, and unused pictures expire after 24 hours.
- Allowances reset on the first day of each month (UTC) and unused pictures don't carry over. If a picture fails or is refused, it isn't counted.
- Prices are shown in US dollars and may vary by country; the store shows the price in your currency before you pay.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
Things you must not do
- Break the law, or the community rules above.
- Try to get around moderation, allowances, bans or blocks, for example with extra accounts.
- Scrape, copy in bulk or resell the Compendium, or interfere with the app or its servers.
Ending your use
You can stop using Apparition at any time, and delete your account in the app under Me › Delete account (see what that deletes). We may remove content, suspend or ban an account that breaks these terms, without notice when the breach is serious. We may also change or stop the app; if we stop it, we will try to give notice first.
Disclaimers
Apparition is for entertainment and for sharing experiences. We don't verify whether any encounter is true, and posts are the views of the people who wrote them. The app is provided "as is", without warranties, as far as the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Vagrant Digital LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
Apple
If you downloaded Apparition from the App Store, these terms are between you and Vagrant Digital LLC, not Apple. Apple has no duty to provide support or maintenance for the app, and isn't responsible for claims about it. Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies, and Apple may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will appear here with a new effective date. If the community rules change, the app asks you to accept them again before you next post or comment.
